My work, New York Requiem, is on view at the Yad l’Banim Gallery in Rehovot, Israel. The collage work is comprised of book parts, ink drawing, postcards, and a handmade marbled endpaper. It references significant stations in my path, starting with my Brooklyn infancy and European refugee parents as represented by the spine of a long favorite book, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, by Betty Smith. Wilting Israeli anemones are drawn on a vintage IDF reserves call-up notice. It also includes the Twin Towers as Shabbat candles in Egyptian glass miniature vases from the Met with an angel hovering over all in a blue endpaper sea.
Curated by Ira Krokhmal.
Now at Yad L’Banim Gallery, 10 Habanim Street in Rehovot until April 18, 2024.
